Unboxing of my new iMac

Today my iMac arrived. This is my first Mac so I’m pretty excited. I unboxed it at work because I didn’t feel like waiting until I got home after the Drupal Meetup tonight.

  • Congrats! :)
  • Thanks, I like it a lot.
  • It looks beautiful! What can I say except welcome to the club!! Gotta love that flat keyboard and mighty mouse too. Big high five from you cousin!
  • Hard to say. Only if I can't get by without doing so.
  • Will you try to install Vista on the Mac? I know. I know. It defeats the purpose. :-)
  • Because I want a computer that works. If I wanted to mess around with getting stuff working I'd install linux. :)
  • Why not just install OS x on one of your PCs? Instead of buying an over priced 'cool looking' mac(which is a pc).
  • Couple things inspired my switch to Mac. One, I haven't been very pleased with the bugs in Vista. Even after Vista SP1 there are bugs (especially one in particular) I run into every single day that cause me pain. Two, I've been eying Mac for a while. I like OS X being UNIX. Third, I'm looking to start doing iPhone development which requires OS X for the SDK. So far I'm liking it. Haven't switched over cold turkey, just set it up next to my XP box, and still using Vista at work. Hopefully I'll move to use the Mac for more things and my PC for less things.
  • Wow Andrew! This is a Big step. How cool to have this new toy. What inspired you to go Apple?
